Nach dem Abschluss raus in die Metropole New York City, dort nicht so recht glücklich geworden und deshalb zurück in die heimatliche Provinz. Dieser Schritt zurück bedeutete künstlerisch gesehen für beide Teile des Duos Phantogram mindestens zwei Schritte nach vorne.
Fernab von jeder Hektik entstand mit "Eyelid Movies" ein Album, das genug Platz zum Atmen lässt und dem das vermeintliche Scheitern nicht im Geringsten anzumerken ist. "When I'm Small" klingt da wie die Blaupause für einen solchen Lebensentwurf: Lässig, zurückgelehnt und unbestimmt. (fl)
